Over two afternoons, Habib Muhammad al-Aydarus will teach from Miftah al-Jannah, the work of Habib Ahmad Mashhur al-Haddad of the Ba'Alawi tradition, known in English as Key to the Garden.

The key the title speaks of is the testimony of faith itself, la ilaha illa Llah. The book is an extended reading of those few words: what they mean, and what they ask of the one who says them. From there Habib Ahmad traces how faith takes hold in a person by stages, first spoken on the tongue, then grasped by the mind, then settling in the heart. Much of it draws on Imam al-Ghazali's Ihya, brought into a shorter and more direct form.
